Staff Our staff includes the following professionals:
Dr. Cook is board certified in Allergy and Clinical Immunology and in Internal Medicine. He graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1977. He completed a three year residency at Washington University in St. Louis and then a two year fellowship program in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Colorado. Dr. Cook began practicing in Austin in 1982. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology, the American College of Allergy and Immunology, and the American Association of Clinical Immunology and Allergy. Dr. Cook has been named as one of Austin Monthly’s Best Doctors and Texas Monthly’s Super Doctor. He has also been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Physicians. As an allergist, Dr. Robert Cook is highly trained to determine the cause of asthma and allergies related to the environment, foods, drugs, or topical substances.
D. Rochelle Weibel, R.N., FNP-C Shelly graduated from West Texas State University with a B.S.N. in 1984. Upon graduation, she has worked as an R.N. in pediatrics, post-partum labor & delivery, nursery, family practice, and allergy. Shelly was Dr. Robert Cook's Nurse Supervisor, from 1986 to 1988. She completed her Master's in nursing from the University of Texas and became a certified Nurse Practitioner in July, 1999. Immediately following graduation, Shelly returned to work in our office as our Nurse Practitioner. Our patient's love Shelly's expertise, as well as her warm and caring manner.
Cheryl Cook, C.M.M. Cheryl is the wife of Dr. Cook and has been the Administrator for his practice since 1985. She has attained her credentials as Certified Medical Manager (CMM) through the Professional Association of Health Care Office Managers (PAHCOM). Cheryl is always available to assist you. Cynthia J., M.A. Cindy graduated from CBM Medical Assistant School in 1988 and has worked for Dr. Cook since then. In 1990, Cindy was promoted to Office Manager. In October of 2007, we will celebrate her 19th anniversary with our practice! Scharmaine P., L.V.N. Scharmaine joined our practice in November of 2005 after having evacuated from Katrina in New Orleans. She has had nine years of nursing experience in a variety of arenas. She is responsible for all aspects of our patient's care, including patient education, allergy testing, lung function testing, administering allergy injections and mixing patient's extracts. Scharmaine is an extremely talented and hard working nurse and our patients love her!
Lisa T., E.M.T. Lisa recently joined our practice after serving our country for the past several years in the United States Air Force. In addition to being a certified EMT, she trained in the prestigious Allergy/Immunology program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Because of her extensive allergy training, she was able to join our practice and literally hit the ground running! Lisa is responsible for all aspects of our patient's care, including patient education, allergy testing, lung function testing, administering allergy injections and mixing patient's extracts. Her cheerful manner and great sense of humor help to make each work day a fun experience for all of us!
Janice K., L.V.N. Jan is a certified L.V.N. and began working for Dr. Cook soon after he went into solo practice in 1985. She was his Office Manager and his only nurse, back in "the old days". In 1990, Jan relinquished her Office Manager duties to Cindy and became the Nurse Supervisor. After working in our office for 16 years, Jan decided to retire to help take care of her new grandaughter. Fortunately for us, Jan is still able to work in the office when another nurse is out. She is responsible for all aspects of our patient's care, including patient education, allergy testing, lung function testing, administering allergy injections and mixing patient's extracts. We are blessed to have members of our office staff that have been with us for so long and Jan is certainly a part of our "family".
Crystal B., M.A. Crystal joined our practice over a year ago, upon completion of her Medical Assistant training. She serves as our receptionist and also works part time with the rest of our nursing staff. In addition to scheduling appointments and greeting patients, Crystal administers allergy shots and lung function tests and educates the patients on proper use of medications and gives them information about their allergies or asthma.
Julia H. Julia joined the staff of Central Texas Allergy and Asthma Center in 1998. Prior to that, she worked for PCA (now known as Humana) as a Claims Examiner, for two and one half years. Julia has been in the medical insurance field for over twenty years. Julia's main responsibilities are to follow up on unpaid or incorrectly paid claims and assist our patients with questions they may have about their coverage. Judy K. Judy has worked as an Insurance Specialist for the past 19 years and we were fortunate enough to welcome her to our practice, in January of 2003. Judy's main responsiblities are to follow up on unpaid or incorrectly paid claims and assist our patients with questions they may have about their coverage. Nina L. Nina is the "Jill of all trades" in our office. She handles Dr. Cook's correspondence, schedules appointments, assists with obtaining insurance referrals and many other business office functions. She has been an important member of our practice for over seven years.
Kelli K. Kelli has worked part-time for our office for the past several years, while attending high school and college. She serves as our receptionist and also assists our insurance specialists. Kelli will often be the first member of our staff that you will meet when becoming our patient and she is happy to help!
